1. Deep-Frying Method

Deep-frying is the most common method used to prepare banana chips. Most of the banana chips that you find in the market are usually deep-fried. To make them, cut the bananas into thin slices and soak them in a solution of water, salt, and turmeric for about 5 minutes. Then, heat oil in a kadhai and gently slide them in and fry until crispy and golden in colour. Ensure that you add them in batches, or it can result in uneven cooking. While this method is a go-to for making banana chips, the only downside is that it leads to the consumption of extra calories. 

2. Oven Method

If you’re worried about the calories, consider making banana chips in your trusty oven. This method works like a charm every single time, and you’ll be surprised by the results. Start by preheating your oven as you normally would for making any other baked goods. Meanwhile, place the banana chips evenly on your baking tray. Drizzle some oil over them and bake them at 160 degrees C for around 40-45 minutes.If you feel like they aren’t crispy enough, feel free to bake them for a few extra minutes. While we’re still using oil in this recipe, it’s significantly less than the deep-frying method.

3. Microwave Method

Were you aware that you can also make banana chips in a microwave? Yes, it’s possible! For this method, cut the bananas into thin slices and place them on a microwave-safe plate. You can even line the plate with butter paper before doing so. Now, just place the banana chips over it and microwave for 2 minutes. Once done, flip them and microwave again for another 2 minutes. You can microwave them for another 2-3 mins if you feel like they’re undercooked. Allow them to cool and then enjoy! This method is great for those who are short on time, but you may have to compromise a little on the crispy texture.

4. Air-Fryer Method

Air-fryers have transformed the way we cook our favourite snacks. The good news is that you can use this kitchen appliance to make delicious banana chips as well. They are just as crunchy as regular banana chips and are also healthy! What could possibly be better for a banana chips lover? To make them, take raw bananas, remove their peel, and cut them into thick cubes. Air fry them at 180 degrees C for 10 mins and then flatten them out using a bowl.
